Points of interest on & around Guemes Island -- perhaps to check out on Sunday afternoon if you want a break from the resort.
On Island: There's a few public beaches (we like the one on the mid-east side) and a 2.4 mile mountain hike to the highest point of the island. There is one store/restaurant, which is right by the ferry. The breakfast items are not as good as they look :( but the seafood chowder is very tasty and the baked goods are reliable.
South: Hike and explore Deception Pass (north point of Whidbey Island). Drive up Mount Erie for an awesome low-effort view.
East: Take scenic road Chuckanut Drive to Larrabee State Park and eat oysters on the way at Taylor Shellfish. Or hike Oyster Dome. For this, we recommend driving up the mountain from the east to reach the upper trailhead.
